Mining and environment is on top of the agenda when the GeoNor conference 2016 gather representatives from the industry, universities and research institutes, government and politicians, financial actors and other stakeholders in the industrial city centre in northern Norway. Four main topics will be addressed, and we have invited a broad spectre of speakers to share their knowledge and experience. Please read more in the program attached. The conference provides ideal networking opportunities, and our line-up of speakers will address issues of importance in the field of mining and mineral processing and environmental concerns. The NordMin network will arrange a workshop back to back with the conference, under the title "Mineral waste – disposal or value creation? Need for research and innovation".
The GeoNor conference was established in 2012, as an annual event focusing on the potential for industrial value creation based on geological resources in the northern region. Mo i Rana was chosen as the host city based on our large industrial cluster as well as mining companies. The initiative for the conference was based on a report published in January 2011: "GeoNor report - Industrial value creation based on geological resources in the Northern region". The GeoNor conference gathers 100-150 attendants yearly, and offers a welcoming social setting for the event located by the Arctic Circle. See the program
