Kjetil is the research manager of the Computational Science & Engineering group at SINTEF Digital, department of Mathematics & Cybernetics consisting of 10 researchers. His research interest lies in isogeometric analysis, digital twin applications and accelerated computing. He was awarded web of science highly cited paper for his work "Isogeometric analysis using LR B-splines". Kjetil is the author and maintainer of several large software packages such as Splipy and LR (Locally Refined) B-spline
