I develop satellite and AI-based methods to detect landslides and support climate adaptation, preparedness and resilient infrastructure. Combining engineering geology with digital technology, I lead applied research projects for NVE and the European Space Agency and build collaboration between researchers, public authorities and industry.
Education
PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, NTNU (2023), completed within SFI Klima 2050, on satellite-based landslide detection. MSc in Engineering Geology, ETH Zurich. BCA/BSc in Geology and Commercial Law in New Zealand (Dean's award for academic excellence, Victoria International Leadership Programme). Project management training at ETH Zurich, the University of Groningen and SINTEF. Further training in cloud-based Earth observation through ESA’s Cubes and Clouds course.
Competence and research areas
Natural hazard management, engineering geology, geotechnics, landslide hazard assessment, satellite remote sensing (SAR and optical), GIS, AI and machine learning, website development, automated mapping and cloud-based Earth observation. Developing applications of fibre-optic sensing for hazard monitoring. Consulting experience from Sweco and geological surveys in Norway and New Zealand. Applied research for climate adaptation, preparedness and resilient infrastructure.
