Terje Rølvåg

Senior Research Scientist

I am a MSc from NTNU/MTP and Ph.D. from NTNU/Cybernetics within active damping of vibrations in elastic mechanisms. My working experience includes SINTEF Production Engineering, SINTEF Materials Technology, FEDEM Technology AS and TRAC, the latter in combination with an adjunct professorship at NTNU/MTP. Between 2003-2019 I was a full-time professor at NTNU/MTP before I moved to SINTEF OCEAN and NTNU/IHB to focus on applied R&D. I have also founded more than 10 companies based on R&D results.

Education

MSc at NTNU/Machine Department (1983-1986)
PhD at NTNU/Engineering Cybernetics (1988-1991)
Professor at Embry Riddle Aeronautic Uuniversity (ERAU) (2015)

Competence and research areas

My research interests are CAD/FEA of structures and mechanisms. My main competence is on CAD modelling, non-linear FEA and control science. My research focus is currently modelling, simulation and implementation of Digital Twins for condition (CM) and structural monitoring (SHM) applied in predictive maintenance. This also includes development and implementation of Engineer To Order (ETO) systems for automatic design, analysis and manufacturing of customized products.
