Control scheme for load mitigation and minimization of motions of floating wind turbine

Abstract
In the application for NOWITECH a set of milestones for the project is listed. Milestone nol5 (planned in WP6.1) is referred to as: Control scheme for load mitigation and minimization of motions of floating wind turbine (control algorithm and report). This report summarizes briefly the work carried out to reach this milestone. The work includes development of nonlinear numerical models aimed specifically at nonlinear control design, development and implementation of design philosophy and testing of the control schemes for various floating concepts. A study on how the development of enhanced control systems can contribute significantly in reducing the life-cycle cost of energy from offshore wind farms has also been carried out. The work has been reported in publications, reports and a Journal paper summarizing parts of the work is scheduled for publication in 2013.
