Abstract
Plastics from fishing and aquaculture contribute significantly to ghost fishing and marine pollution. Challenges and solutions for the recycling of plastic materials from fisheries and aquaculture as well as the use of biodegradable plastics for marine applications will be discussed. A major challenge concerning the recycling of plastics from fisheries and aquaculture is to find application areas, i.e. products and value chains that could ensure large volume offtake of recyclates.
