Directed Energy Deposition - Additive Manufacturing Answers Ship's Requirements - FlexiMan project demonstrator waterjet impeller

Abstract

The presentation aims to disseminate the key research findings of the project FlexiMan related to the development of on-demand manufacturing process chains for maritime sector based on Additive Manufacturing. It focuses on the project demonstrator waterjet impeller, including the manufacturing plan, the optimisation of DED manufacturing approach, and the qualification process of the produced material and component. The positive impacts of the new manufacturing approach on the quality of the waterjet impeller produced by DED are presented and discussed for future industrial implementation of the developed technology.
