A user-friendly tool for allocation of emission limits considering frequency-dependent impedance

Abstract

Distribution system operators need simple tools for calculating the impact on voltage quality from new loads and renewable generation. This paper presents the further development and verification of a tool for allocating electrical emission quotas based on the standards IEC 61000-3-6, IEC 61000-3-7, and IEC 61000-3-13. The main focus is a simple methodology for estimating the frequency-dependent impedance, which will improve the accuracy of the allocation. Thus, the tool allows for higher single harmonic current limits for most customers, which could reduce their installation costs.
