Abstract
This document reviews the characteristics of navigation system technology in the context of the Johan Sverdrup facility, the available navigation infrastructure and the desired operations therein. After discussing the benefits and drawbacks of the foreseeable sources of navigation data, the feasibility of implementing an outdoor/indoor navigation solution based on Wi-Fi, camera, and inertial navigation via an iPad or similar user decice is considered, and recommendations for next steps are given.
