SEWER ASSET MANAGEMENT: IMPACT OF THE SAMPLE ON THE INSPECTION AND REHABILITATION PROGRAM

Abstract

Small number of utilities has completely inspected their sewer networks. Therefore, the use of a sample to calibrate deterioration models and to study scenarios about future seems mandatory. This sample should reflect the asset stock’s characteristics in the best manner. However, within scientific literature, authors have calibrated deterioration models without paying attention to the impact of used sample on their outcomes. Considering these challenges, the main scopes of this work are to: 1) draw a representative sample of an asset stock, 2) study the impact of calibration sample on the outcomes of a multivariate model and 3) study the impact of the used sample on the inspection and rehabilitation programs during the time.
