Abstract
In this paper, we discuss how human capital such as knowledge, competence and experience may be extracted
from aggregated data sets. In particular, we show how kernel
density estimation may be used as a statistical tool to better extract operational patterns for ships in ice-covered waters, given in large amounts of S-AIS data. Moreover, we discuss how human capital is reflected in operational data, and how this may be used as an input for short term prediction in a decision support system.
