Cost Optimal Retrofitting Of Shopping Malls In Europe

Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the possible retrofitting actions with a cost-optimal vision for shopping mall managers. Cost optimization was analysed with state-of-the-art evaluation tools, taking initial, operational and maintenance into account. Costs of retrofitting measures were collected and with energy saving measures correlated. For each building the energy demand and primary energy (PE) savings for a wide number of packages representing “current practices”, “best practices” and “state of art solutions” were calculated. From the results for all reference buildings the best performing parameters with respect to primary energy savings and net present values were identified.
