Large scale routing of LNG vessels

Abstract

  • LNG’s share of world’s energy consumption is increasing –Need for more research on LNG supply chain optimization •A real-life LNG ship routing and scheduling problem was presented •Solution method utilizing problem structure: –Decomposing into a master problem and one subproblem for each fleet segment –Subproblems solved by a multi-start local search heuristic embedding distance measures –Master problem is a MIP model solved by a commercial solver •On-going research tries to exploit waiting time when searching for solutions that are feasible according to the berth constraints
