Optimal stiffness design of sandwich plates with variable core densities

Abstract

We consider optimal design of sandwich plates with variable core densities. Standard methods usually involve the numerical solution of complicated polynomial equations. Our method is much simpler and often leads to simple closed form expressions with even higher accuracy.
