Abstract
Fishing operations in the Barents Sea have increased significantly and, correspondingly, also the exposure of ships to hazards. This study considers spray icing hazard exposure by integrating icing event probabilities with ship traffic data. NORA10 re-analysis data are employed to estimate icing rates using three models: MINCOG, Overland, and Modified Overland. Ship traffic density is estimated by identifying and analyzing the locations of fishing vessels using AIS data. The resulting hazard exposure maps can enhance operational safety by identifying high-risk regions where weather warning systems should be enhanced.
