Abstract
The "Socio-economical Architecture for Digital Twins of the Ocean (SEAtwins)" project, under the DITTO programme, connects the EU community working on the integration of socio-economicmodels into a Digital Ocean to the global Digital Twins of the Ocean (DTO) community. SEAtwins fosters innovative integration of social--ecological models into the European DTO framework, enabling advanced scenario analysis, decision support, and ecosystem-based management. The project brings together novel methodologies, tools, and standards ensuring data interoperability, FAIR principles compliance, and participatory co-design. With case studies across European seas, SEAtwins empowers policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders to advance sustainable ocean management, enhancing societal and economic well-being in line with the UN Ocean Decade goals. SEAtwins is a cluster of four Mission Ocean and Waters funded projects: SEADITO, SEADOTs, SURIMI, and EcoTwin, which each take different but complimentary approaches to integrate social-ecological data into DTO, with a particular focus on collaboration with the European Digital Twins of the Ocean (EDITO) initiative.
