Abstract
This memo provides an update on the logistics of the hydrogen industry in Northern Europe, building upon our 2024 analysis. We present recent advancements in hydrogen production, transport, and storage technologies, with a focus on Norway and other key countries in the region. We discuss new policies and initiatives that are shaping the hydrogen landscape, particularly in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Germany. The memo also outlines enhancements to our BROMo optimization model, including expanded geographical coverage, integration of blue hydrogen and CCS technologies, and a dedicated ammonia sector. The developments highlighted here inform and provide data to shape scenario assumptions. These updates address limitations identified in our previous work and incorporate the latest technological and economic data. Finally, we propose future research directions to further improve our modelling capabilities and inform hydrogen policy and infrastructure decisions in Northern Europe.
