Abstract
Vertical greenhouses produce surplus heat from artificial lighting, which can be reused in hybrid systems. This study analyzes a Norwegian hybrid greenhouse using IDA ICE to estimate surplus heat from the vertical section over Dec. 21–Jan. 25, 2023/24. Modeled daily heat removal averaged 3.61 kWh/m², close to the measured 3.49 kWh/m². Despite limited data and model simplifications, the results show that IDA ICE can provide reliable estimates of surplus heat for integration with traditional greenhouses.
