SFI-MOVE RA2 – WP6 Guide on numerical modelling and simulation of installation of subsea structures

Abstract

As agreed with the SFI MOVE Consortium, SFI MOVE Centre Management and SINTEF Ocean, it is hereby confirmed that all reports from technical activities carried out by SINTEF Ocean as part of SFI MOVE in the period 2015-2023 are downgraded from Restricted to Unrestricted, Including this Report, previously numbered OC2023 F-031. This downgrading overrides the classification of the reports it applies to, hence making the said reports open to the public, which in turn means that these reports can be distributed freely. As part of the process to decide the design limiting sea state for an installation operation, numerical time domain simulations of the installation may be performed. This report contains advice, data and examples that may be useful in the development of numerical models for installation of subsea structures. The report is not supposed to be a complete user's manual or recommended practice, but an addition to them. The main topic is hydrodynamic coefficients for subsea structures, but advice regarding the numerical modelling of the complete system consisting of the structure to be installed, lifting vessel and rigging are also included.
