Abstract
The provided representative time series are to support measurements, simulations, and control strategy development for wind-assisted propulsion systems (WAPS) at sea.
The data originate from shipborne lidar measurements at a height of 22 m above the deck of a chemical tanker, acquired during four trans-Atlantic crossings in 2025 with a nominal sampling frequency of 1 Hz.
Each time series has a duration of 10 min and is provided in both apparent and motion-compensated (true) wind conditions.
The selected cases capture characteristic flow features, including turbulence-like conditions as well as velocity and directional events, and are intended as standardized inflow scenarios for WAPS applications.
