Validation of CFD Methodology for the Prediction of Propulsion Performance of Inland Navigation Vessels

Abstract

This paper describes the CFD approach for resistance and self-propulsion simulations of inland vessels in restricted waterways. The method is validated against the results of model tests regarding the ship’s towing resistance, dynamic position and nominal wake field at the conditions of varying Froude number and water depth.
