SHARP – Safe HAndling of Refrigerated Pressurised ammonia

SHARP will enable safer handling of ammonia through experimental campaigns, development of validated models and case studies.

Contact person

The project focuses on the release of refrigerated pressurised liquid ammonia, with attention to aerosol formation, rainout, water-based mitigation systems and atmospheric dispersion. Release experiments will be performed by the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) and water-based mitigation experiments will be conducted in RISE Fire Research’s lab facilities. The modelling work is led by SINTEF, who by using the data from the experimental campaigns will both validate the developed leakage and release models, and benchmark existing models.
