Nano-MAP: Nanoplastic Monitoring for Risk Management in Aquaculture, Environment and Public Health

The project will establish a new measurement method for the smallest plastic particles – nanoplastics. We will map where the nanoplastics come from, test new ways to remove them, and examine how industry and society can contribute to the solution.

Contact person

The smallest plastic particles – nanoplastics – end up in water, food, and the human body. They are invisible, but affect both health and the environment. In this project, we will develop new measurement technique, investigate where the nanoplastics come from, and find out how they can be removed from water.

The project is led by SINTEF Helgeland and is carried out in collaboration with Nordlandsforskning, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Helgeland Plast, Nemko Norlab, Moleaer, Kvarøy Fish Farming, the municipalities of Rana and Hemnes, Nordland County Council, and the Norwegian Environment Agency in a reference group.
