RESIST - a large-scale lighthouse project funded by the EU Mission Adaptation to Climate Change. RESIST is fortifying the resilience and boosting the adaptive capacity of 12 climate-vulnerable EU regions through the implementation of four large-scale demonstrations of CCA innovations. By leveraging quintuple-helix partnerships, the project aims to co-create, validate, and scale novel solutions, thereby facilitating the transfer of knowledge and solutions to eight twinning regions.
RESIST actively demonstrates 100 innovative solutions across governance, social frameworks, NbS, engineering and digital technologies, to accelerate adaptation efforts. It pioneers the development of graphical digital twins tailored to all the demonstration areas to empower informed decision-making and long-term planning. RESIST raises awareness, leverages citizens participation and promotes sustainable exploitation of results towards the climate vulnerable EU regions and markets including generation of private and public funding.
SINTEF plays a central role in the project. As the coordinator of RESIST, SINTEF is responsible for leading the consortium of 60 partner organisations from the European Union, Norway, and Ukraine and representing it in all interactions with the European Commission. In addition, three Norwegian partners—AugmentCity, OSC, and SINTEF—collaborate to co-develop and demonstrate innovative graphical digital twins across all 12 climate-vulnerable RESIST regions. Furthermore, SINTEF actively supports climate change adaptation efforts in the Vesterålen region, working closely with Vesterålsrådet, Museum Nord, and Andfjord Salmon.
RESIST has delivered tangible results and achieved significant milestones that have attracted recognition from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the OECD, and the Research Council of Norway, among other key stakeholders. In September 2025, the project was prominently featured by CINEA Innovative solutions for climate-resilient European regions - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency.
