The first Global Stocktake of the Paris Agreement showed that the world knows what it takes to cut emissions, and that many of the technologies already exist. Yet the transition is moving too slowly, while global energy demand keeps growing.
In the report “From Ambition to Implementation: NTNU and SINTEF’s Scientific Advice for COP31”, our researchers provide advice on rapid emission cuts, clean energy, industrial transition, carbon removal, circular value chains, climate-resilient societies and a just transition. The report also points out that technology alone does not cut emissions. It takes capital, competence and policy instruments that reduce risk, and policies that address climate, nature, energy security and competitiveness together.
Together with NTNU, we are also hosting an official side event on 14 November on how to move from technology transfer to technology partnership that builds local capacity and value creation. We are taking part in several other events as well, and will share updates from the negotiations along the way.
