Pavel Stránský is a research scientist in industrial ecology at SINTEF Helgeland, Mo i Rana. He assesses the environmental performance of industrial and energy systems using life cycle assessment (LCA), material flow analysis (MFA) and hybrid environmentally extended input-output (EEIO) models, and couples these with engineering and energy-system models. He works across sectors; recent projects cover mining, metal production, regional energy systems and the bioeconomy.
Education
MSc in Industrial Ecology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). BSc in Water Management, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.
Competence and research areas
Integrated modelling: coupling LCA and MFA with process, engineering and energy-system models, e.g. linking simulations to parametric LCA for ecodesign, or energy scenarios to regional material and emission flows.
Methods: hybrid LCA, EEIO, dynamic MFA, parametric and prospective LCA, EPD, GIS.
Tools: SimaPro, STAN, Python, R, QGIS.
Applied across sectors: mining, metals, energy systems, aquaculture, bioeconomy.
