Patrick Nitschke

Patrick is a research scientist in the Analytics and AI group at the Department of Mathematics and Cybernetics, since 2024. His primary focus is on applied machine learning for industry, with projects spanning process industry, logistics and embodied AI. His interest lies at the intersection of machine learning, optimisation and control – and in how these can deliver better decisions in practice.

Education

MSc in Cybernetics and Robotics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, specialising in autonomous systems with a focus on machine learning. His thesis applied reinforcement learning for fast, map-free navigation of aerial robots in cluttered environments.
