Patrick Nitschke

Patrick is a research scientist in the Analytics and AI group at the Department of Mathematics and Cybernetics. He joined SINTEF in 2024 and works on applied machine learning for industry, with projects in the process industry and logistics. He also works on embodied AI and machine learning for autonomous robots. Interested in the intersection of machine learning, optimisation and control – and in how these can deliver better decisions in practice.

Education

MSc in Cybernetics and Robotics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, specialising in autonomous systems with a focus on machine learning. His thesis applied reinforcement learning for fast, map-free navigation of aerial robots in cluttered environments.
