How does BGS work with CCS?

BGS is recognised as a European centre of excellence for the study of CO2 storage. We have a dedicated CCS team that is active in several research areas including:

  • characterisation and capacity estimation of potential underground storage reservoirs
  • potential chemical interactions of injected CO2 with the surrounding rocks
  • storage site monitoring technologies
  • assessment of long-term site performance

Why did BGS decide to sponsor TCCS?

We are currently planning an internationally novel facility for research into deep geological CO2 storage – the CO2 Storage Research Facility. This project benefits greatly from conversations with, and input from, the wider CCS community so it feels natural to support a valuable event for this audience.

What is BGS looking forward to at TCCS?

We’re looking forward to being in the same room as all the most interesting figures in the CCS world, learning about new projects, discussing the status of CCS and exploring how to best put that to use to support meeting emission reduction targets.
