Call for Abstracts
The deadline for submitting abstracts was extended to Friday, November 15, 2019. The reviewing process was finished by February 14, 2020.
Results from the reviewing process was communicated during the following 1-2 weeks after February 14th. We have noticed that several abstracts are not written according to the guidelines. As accepted abstracts are supposed to be published in a special issue of the Gerontechnology journal, some writers must be prepared to do an editing job. Read abstract submission guidelines and look at the examples before preparing your abstract. There are two types of abstract:
- Format No.1 - Free Paper, Poster, or an individual presentation as part of a symposium
- Format No.2 - ONLY if you are the Convener of a Symposium
Please note that individual delegates may only submit a maximum of 3 abstracts. References use APA style not Vancouver. Submit abstracts here (you need to create a username and password that you also use when register for the conference).
Abstract Review and Publication
The Conference theme, "Measures to achieve better quality of life and active healthy aging", addresses the potential power of technology to both enhance quality of life for older people and prevent age-related disabilities through health promotion. Quality of life is a core concept throughout life and efforts early in life might influence older age. To enhance active healthy aging, technology and digital literacy could be promoted by learning adequate skills before the onset of potential age-related disabilities. Therefore, gerontechnology includes not only technology adopted for older people, but also technology that are universally designed to be used throughout life. All accepted abstracts will be published in a special issue of the ISG peer-reviewed journal, Gerontechnology. The published abstracts are grouped into six broad categories or domains depending on the main application domain of the technological intervention being described or evaluated:
- Experienced Health and (Self) Respect
- Housing and Daily Living
- Mobility and Transport
- Communication and Governance
- Work and Leisure
- Miscellaneous
Category #6 can function as a cross-cutting category, for technologies that are applicable across multiple categories e.g., robotics, or it can be used for indicating the category the author believes is most suitable for the abstract. Please indicate the category that you believe is most suitable for your abstract. However, if the International Scientific Advisory Committee believes the abstract would fit better into another category, we will select peer reviewers within this category for your submission.
