On behalf of the project consortium, Afaf Saai (SINTEF, PC) and Mette Lokna Nedreberg (Kongsberg Maritime) presented the successful results of FlexiMan project at the National Conference for Additive Manufacturing organized by Norwegian Additive Manufacturing Cluster. We presented the key elements of the flexible and sustainable manufacturing approaches applied to water jet impeller, multi-material pump impeller, and hollow propeller blade. We demonstrated that DED can be optimized to fulfil all requirements of critical parts, and the great benefit for new lightweight and multi-material designs. We also demonstrated the performance of DED manufacturing solutions versus conventional manufacturing solutions.
