Project's consortium completes WP4 and delivers planned reports and scientific publications
The project consortium completes WP4 with successful optimization of DED processes for the project demonstrators. The optimized DED processes were reported in the deliverable D4-1 including the process parameters and postprocessing-heat treatment for DED parts produced with powder, both conventional and recycled.
Physical meeting of management and technical committee in Aalesund 13-14 April 2023
After an overview of status & progress, the management and technical committees climb the steps to Mount Aksla to enjoy the iconic view of the beautiful coastal town. Then we celebrated the successful results with the most popular Bacalao dishes made by chef who knows the adventure of finding good food.
Presentation at the National Conference for Additive Manufacturing, Trondheim 21 and 22 Mars 2023
On behalf of the project consortium, Afaf Saai (SINTEF, PC) and Mette Lokna Nedreberg (Kongsberg Maritime) presented the successful results of FlexiMan project at the National Conference for Additive Manufacturing organized by Norwegian Additive Manufacturing Cluster. We presented the key elements of the flexible and sustainable manufacturing approaches applied to water jet impeller, multi-material pump impeller, and hollow propeller blade. We demonstrated that DED can be optimized to fulfil all requirements of critical parts, and the great benefit for new lightweight and multi-material designs. We also demonstrated the performance of DED manufacturing solutions versus conventional manufacturing solutions.
Joint Workshop on Additive Manufacturing
Date and place: 30.8.2022 – Hamburg Germany A joint work on Additive Manufacturing is organized by the project FlexiMan in collaboration with the project FlexiGen and the project GREEF. The workshop aims at having constructive discussions around application of Metal-Directed Energy Deposition (DED) including benefits and challenges. Experts from industry and academia presented interesting talks related to the demonstration of the technologies for maritime applications, classification and standard guidelines, and environmental sustainability of AM.
The project complete WP2 and deliver the planned reports in WP3
After successful accomplishment of WP2 (Process and Product design), the project consortium continue delivering good work in WP2 (Raw Material Supply). The project consortium deliver Report describing upcycled grinding waste as powder for DED and Report describing quality assessment of conventional and recycled powder for the DED processes.
MarTERA Fall Meeting 26-27 October 2021 (on-line event)
The project coordinator (Afaf Saai, SINTEF) presented the mid-term progress report to the Funders of the projects and the coordinators of the funded projects in the MarTERA Calls 2019 and 2020. Mme Saai presented the progress of the project according to the working plan, the intermediate results and the plans for dissemination and exploitation. The mid-term progress report is available on MarTERA website (Link PowerPoint Presentation (martera.eu))
Presentation at the Lasers in Manufacturing Conference 21–24 June 2021 (Munich, Germany)
Vinzenz Müller presented at "Lasers in Manufacturing Conference". The presentation shows the Analysis and recycling of bronze grinding waste to produce maritime components using directed energy deposition. The presented work was performed by the project partners Fraunhofer IPK and Mecklenburger Metallguss GmbH.
Norway: National Industrial Conference "INDUSTRY FOR THE FUTURE" 21 October 2021 (Raufoss, Norway)
Mr. Tor Henning Molstad (Nordic Additive Manufacturing) presenting at the national industrial conference "INDUSTRY FOR THE FUTURE".
Presentation at ESAFORM 2022, the 25th international Conference on Material Forming (Braga, Portugal 27-29 April 2022)
The optimization of LMD process supported by material testing and microstructure characterization were performed by Nordic Additive Manufacturing and SINTEF for 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel. The LMD process parameters target producing material with the required properties according to the requirements on the water jet impeller and standard requirements. A scientific papers summarizing the optimization process was submitted and presented at the 25th International Conference on Material Forming (2022) by Siri Marthe Arbo (SINTEF).
Presentation of the project to MarTERA Consortium
The meetings took place at 15.09.2020 as on-line conference
The project delivers the first report
The project consortium deliver the first reports of the project including the requirements for the demonstrators "water jet impeller", "pump impeller and propeller blade", with the plans for manufacturing and qualification testing. The project specified the material properties and tolerances based on internal quality assessment requirements and class society guidance. A literature survey of current standards and guidelines for additive manufacturing with focus on DED was delivered.
