Grid flexibility and distributed energy production changes the premiss for buying and selling power.

CINELDI partner NODES is operating a new marked platform, facilitating optimal use of flexibility in the grid. Linja and Fagne both have a pilot project investigating the use of the NODES market platform for local flexibility market.

The flexibility market at Linja will be established at Bremangerlandet to solve local grid capacity issues. A new power line is planned to be finalised in 2022, and the flexibility market will be a temporary solution to solve grid problems.

Fagne will investigate the use of a local flexibility market on an island, Utsira, where different flexible resources will be available (flexible load, energy storage and distributed generation). Today the island is supported from the mainland via a submarine cable, and an electric ferry is planned to be charged at the island. The flexibility market will be evaluated as a solution to trade available flexibility to keep a stable power system on the island – also during charging of the ferry.
