Automated protection and outcome analysis for dynamic grid operation

The power system is in strained operation, where strenuous operation with monitoring of bottlenecks and cross sections become the new everyday life.

In addition to this, much of the production characteristics change from power stations with swing mass and short-circuit performances to inverter-based production from wind, battery, solar and HVDC facilities that have other characteristics.

Automated protection and contingency analysis will provide better decision support and make it possible to assess and decide on complicated coupling situations during operation. This will enable a more dynamic operation of the grid, and is thus an important prerequisite for being able to operate the power system in a safe manner.
