Metabolic profiling
SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture along with SINTEF Biotechnology are involved in an internal project aimed at establishing tools for metabolic profiling and fingerprinting of C. finmarchicus. These tools will be used for assessing potential effects of environmental contaminants along with more systems biology related science.

Metabolic profile of C. finmarchicus assessed by high resolution magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (HR-MAS NMR). Our preliminary work have shown that such metabolic profiles may be used as sensitive tools to screen for effects of toxicants on this species, and also, when used in combination with genomics tools, to increase the knowledge and understanding of biological mechanisms underlying toxicity.
