SP2 will pave the way for new, innovative and safe systems for transport of H₂. New technologies for maritime energy systems and ship designs are required to enable large-scale LH2 distribution. Based upon the technology development, market characteristics and underlying infrastructure, optimal logistics systems for H₂ distribution and storage will be proposed and evaluated. For pipeline transport of H₂-gas, structural integrity challenges will be handled by materials testing, development of predictive engineering tools and by giving input to existing and new standards for materials and design.
