In-depth integration and co-production of knowledge is critical in the PLASTICENE project, in that there is a lot of uncertainty and lack of data available. There is a wide range of stakeholders engaged in environmental topics such as plastics governance, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), international organisations (IOs), intergovernmental organisations (IGOs), the private sector industry actors, as well as research and education institutes. The key approach in PLASTICENE is to use a participatory stakeholder framework, whereby we will hold data gathering, expert knowledge and perception workshops for policy action advice and scenario building using Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping (FCM). In doing so, we assess to what degree different affected sectors perceive future effects of regulatory changes related to plastics governance options, as well as contributing to data needs for the work in WP1-3, and validation of results from these WPs.
