Project description

The INTRANS project will challenge the current paradigm of goods transportation by benefiting from the recent development in cost-efficient leading-edge technology and standards. INTRANS brings together expertise from a number of scientific disciplines and involve all partners along the global value chain to realise the overall objective of the project:

To develop knowledge, concepts, models and systems for intelligent, fully-automated flow of goods and information in transport systems through employment of leading-edge technologies.

About the funding programme

INTRANS is a knowledge-building project with user involvement (KMB) . This is a funding scheme run by The Research Council of Norway to promote long-term, industry-oriented researcher training and to enhance expertise among researchers in thematic areas that are essential to Norwegian trade and industry. INTRANS is funded through the SMARTRANS programme, which was established in 2006 in response to the Ministry of Transport and Communication's strategy for telecommunications and transport research and in accordance with the objective set out in the National Transport Plan to promote a safe, efficient and environmentally sustainable transport system.
