Timo van Opstal

Timo van Opstal has a joint position as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mathematical Sciences of NTNU and the Applied Mathematics department of SINTEF ICT. His current research activities focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics and Fluid-Structure interaction (FSI) of wind turbines. He completed his PhD at the Mechanical Engineering department of TU Eindhoven in 2013, developing numerical methods for airbag deployment simulations. During his PhD he was a visiting researcher at the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES) at UT Austin. Timo obtained a Masters of Science degree in Aerodynamics at TU Delft, where he graduated on the numerical analysis of transonic flutter. He entertains such hobbies as running and playing piano in his spare time.
