Ghent University

The Maritime Technology Division of Ghent University, Belgium, focuses its research on the behaviour of ships in shallow and restricted navigation areas (channels, canals, harbours). Research topics are manoeuvring, interaction with banks and other ships, interaction with mud layers, probabilistic access policy.

This research is mostly carried out in collaboration with Flanders Hydraulics Research in Antwerp where a towing tank for captive manoeuvring tests and two full bridge ship manoeuvring simulators are available.
