Project 1.1 User Cultures and User Needs

 

Project Leader: Professor Knut H. Sørensen, Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture, NTNU.

  • Case studies of user participation and user experiences in selected building projects.
  • How to organize user participation in building projects and how to represent users’ interests.
  • The role of the building operators and the importance of thinking about buildings as learning buildings that may evolve over a long period of time (PhD Robert Bye).
  • Development of a web-site about user participation and user requirement in building projects,

Project 1.2 Environmental criteria

 

Project Leader: Professor Knut H. Sørensen, Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture, NTNU.

  • 50 interviews of key stakeholders within the energy/building environment in Norway and 3 case-studies of building projects.
  • The completion of a Ph.D. study entitled “Faith, hope and hybrid ventilation – measures of sustainability in buildings” (Helene T. Moe, 2006), showing an urgent need for better and more standardized ways of establishing, promoting and implementing environmental criteria in the design and construction of buildings.

Project 1.3 Indoor Environment

 

Project Leader: Professor Sten Olaf Hanssen, Department of Energy and Process Engineering, NTNU.

  • Analysis of the use of ventilation air for room heating
  • Analysis of the interaction between the building services and the user – simultaneousness analysis.
  • Development of requirement specifications, published at the web-site.

Project 1.4 Implementation

 

Project Leader: Associate Professor Thomas Berker, Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture, NTNU.

  • Critical analysis of how building processes are presented and tools for control of such processes
  • Case studies of 2 Smartbygg-technologies: CO2 heat pumps and lighting systems
  • Studies of inter-disciplinary practices in Smartbygg.
  • Studies of organizational practices and implementation in building practices
  • The production of a guideline for marketing of low energy dwellings.
