Global Impact- Gemini Center

In the Gemini Center 'Equitable Partnerships for Global Impact', SINTEF and NTNU have joined together to better address the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda’s imperative of “Leaving no one behind”.

Contact person

With only seven years left to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) amidst an oncoming climate crisis, we need systematic changes and innovative partnership approaches that replace top-down models of development . Such  approaches need to ensure fairness and sustainability, especially for groups underrepresented in conventional sustainability transition models centered on technology development and adoption.

Objectives

  • To establish a joint platform for SINTEF and NTNU that advances transdisciplinary research and innovation to tackle societal challenges through equitable partnerships with institutions in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC).
  • To better understand how research and innovation can respond to the development and relief nexus priorities among actors focusing on LMICs.

Activities

Global Impact will organize the following type of activities over the period of the nest four years (2024-2027):

  • Establishment of a advisory board with partners from the LMIC
  • Capacity-Building Workshops for increasing engagement with LMIC partners
  • Annual Conference
  • Sytematic dialogue with National Ministries, National and EU development agencies and international civil society
