Integration of electronic systems in clothing

Coldwear addresses the challenges of operating in arctic climate conditions. We investige new technologies to integrate sensors into clothing.  Parameters such as temperature, humidity, wind and heat transport are particularly relevant to monitor, and can be used to provide improved comfort, safety and performance for the users.

The sensors will be combined with small sections of miniaturized electronics that are integrated into the clothing. Coldwear will carry out research on how sensors and electronics can be integrated into clothing and textiles so that it works unaffected by the cold and humid environments.   Moulding/encapsulation techniques that can be combined with textile processes are in particular targeted.  In addition to cold climate usage, also  the effects of long term wear and washing processes must be taken into consideration.
