The objective of the thesis is to present studies addressing the question: How do we identify that a system drifts or experiences sudden changes in the safety space? One option is using the information provided by indicators. Hence, the studies in this thesis focus on the identification of safety performance indicators.

The PhD work is linked to the overall project in several ways. Some of the issues covered by the PhD work with foreseen links to the overall project are:

• Contributes to resilience and resilience engineering knowledge (linked to WP 1)
• Drifting out of the safety space (linked to WP 2)
• Safety modelling including safety  performance indicators (linked to WP 4)
