WP 3 Shallow and confined water validation

Objective:
Collect sea trial data (for manoeuvring tests and normal operation) and compare these to outcomes from numerical simulation models. Use sea trial data to improve simulation models.

Short WP description:
Perform different shallow water model test (captive and/or free-sailing) to collect data needed for development of numerical simulation models for selected case vessels. Run sea trials with some of the case vessels to investigate manoeuvring performance in shallow and confined water. In addition to IMO Standard Manoeuvres vessel specific low speed and/or confined water tests will be used for the validation work. The actual low speed and confined water tests will be case vessel specific and developed through collaboration between ship masters, pilots and scientific personnel from the project's research partners. In addition data will be collected from normal operation in confined waters for some of the case vessels.
