Multiple frequency exposure

Where multiple frequencies are present the field levels should meet the following criteria to ensure compliance with the basic restrictions:

where E(fi) and B(fi) represent the electric and magnetic fields (respectively) at frequency fi, while ERL(fi) and BRL(fi) represent the relevant reference levels, c(fi) = (6.1 x 108)/fi V/m and d(fi) = 2.01/fi T.

For more details see ICNIRP's Guidance on determining compliance of exposure to pulsed fields and complex non-sinusoidal waveforms below 100 kHz.

B and H both describe the magnetic field. The quantities B and H are related to each other by the magnetic permeability (µ) of the medium that they exist in.

B=µH,
where µ is the magnetic permeability. For air and human tissues µ is approximately 4π x 10-7 H/m.
