Microfeatured polymer components (mpc) is a research project run by SINTEF Materials and Chemistry and partners. The project addresses challenges regarding the use of polymer materials in high-precision mass-produced components.
The focus is on components with the largest outer dimension in the centimeter range, but with surface features (channels, gratings etc) in the micrometer range.
The project is funded by the Research Council of Norway as a "Strategic Institute Programme" (SIP).
Terje R. Tofteberg defended his PhD thesis "Injection molding of microfeatured polymer components" April 6th 2010 at the University of Oslo. Info about the defence and the trial lecture. Download the PhD thesis.
