The latest tools developed for analysis of pipeline installation and operation, local collapse and fracture, and multiphase flow simulations

Abstract

As the oil and gas industry is developing new and more difficult fields, new challenges are encountered and must be solved. Pipeline and riser technology must be developed to handle increasingly deeper water, high temperature, multi-phase flow situations, wax and hydrate problems and large deformation scenarios. SINTEF, through building new laboratories and carrying out research, is currently developing technologies and tools for solving many of these problems. A summary of the most important activities, projects and technologies currently under development will be presented, and focus will be given to tools developed for analysis of pipeline installation and operation, local collapse and fracture, and multiphase flow simulations. The potential for added value and benefit that can be obtained by combining these complementary technologies across traditional discipline lines will also be briefly outlined.
