Sammendrag
This paper provides an overview about the initial position and rationale regarding the development of an unmanned ship, which is the content of the EU-funded project MUNIN. Based on the European vision of an autonomous ship, MUNIN’s understanding of autonomy, its contribution towards a sustainable maritime transport system and the current key challenges for implementing unmanned vessels will be explained.
