Shale Rock Physics for Increased Recovery

Sammendrag

Overburden 4D seismic is a powerful reservoir surveillance tool that is used, e.g., for detecting undepleted pockets
Better rock physics models and geomechanical models needed for quantitative interpretation of 4D seismic data
Simple models (e.g. R-factor model) may not be sufficient
Laboratory experiments with shale core plugs show strong stress-path dependence of stress/strain sensitivities of vP and vS
Seismic dispersion is large in shales and has to be accounted for in advanced rock-physics models
As part of the "Shale Rock Physics for Improved Recovery" project, SINTEF develops a generalized shale rock physics model
