BIGCO2 R&D platform: Closing the Knowledge Gaps of the CO₂ Chain

The BIGCO2 R&D Platform (BIGCO2) builds knowledge and technology underpinning demonstration of sustainable power generation with carbon capture and storage (CCS) at industrial scale. BIGCO2 and its forerunners is the largest publicly funded research project on CCS in Europe. It comprises CO₂ capture, CO₂ storage and CO₂ chain analyses. The project is an extensive international collaborative effort and includes a comprehensive educational program. This paper presents the BIGCO2 project and outlines how the project will contribute to development and deployment of large scale CCS, promoting CCS as a key technology for reducing CO₂ emissions.
